Media Release

4 November 2009

An indigenous plant identification walk with experts is an ideal way to learn about our local flora.

Join Russell Best and David Francis for a look at indigenous plants on Hilliers Road, Whittlesea and a walk to Mt Disappointment State Forest to see how plants are recovering from the bushfires after the Spring rains.

Russell and David, the authors of the book; Macedon Range Flora 1, will lead a walk through private property on Hilliers Rd and continue on to Mt Disappointment State Forest.

Special permission has been granted by the Department of Sustainability and Environment, to access the forest to observe what plants are regenerating after the
Spring Rains.

This walk will cover some steep and uneven ground through burnt forest. Participants should wear appropriate footwear and clothing.

The event takes place on Saturday 14 November from1pm to 3pm at Clive and Lesley Denholm’s Property, 81 Hilliers Rd, Whittlesea.

Participants should RSVP by Thursday 12 November to James Booth on 9217 2437 or Holly Bennett on 9217 2323. The event is free of charge.
