2024 Council elections

Local Government elections are set to take place in October 2024.

The Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) runs local council elections across the state. The 2024 election will be conducted by postal voting.

Local Government elections are an opportunity for you to help shape the City of Whittlesea by voting for your Council representative or nominating to become a Councillor yourself.

City of Whittlesea wards

Following the review of electoral structures by the VEC, the City of Whittlesea will be moving to 11 single-Councillor wards.

The new ward names and boundaries are shown below:

Election Period Policy

As part of our Governance Rules, we’ve adopted an Election Period Policy to explain how we’ll conduct our business leading into an election.

This is to ensure that Council elections are not compromised and to safeguard the authority of the incoming Council.  You can view a hard copy at our Council offices or download a copy.
