With just over three months until the Local Government elections in October, residents in the City of Whittlesea passionate about their community are urged to consider standing for Council.

Local community leadership is vital in ensuring the voices of our community are heard and that our elected Councillors represent the diverse needs and perspectives of our residents.

Acting CEO Sarah Renner encouraged those in the community who are passionate about making a difference to consider standing for these important leadership roles in Council.

“Becoming a councillor presents a significant opportunity for residents to represent their community and actively participate in shaping the future of the City of Whittlesea. Your ideas, your vision and your leadership can make a real difference,” said Sarah.

To help residents and community leaders learn more about what it means to be a Councillor as well as important information on the election process and candidate requirements, a range of information sessions are being held.

A session specifically tailored for City of Whittlesea candidates will be held on Thursday 25 July, from 2pm - 4pm at the City of Whittlesea Council Offices, 25 Ferres Blvd South Morang.

The City of Whittlesea has also partnered with the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) to hold an information session for the north-west metro region, to be held at the Broadmeadows Town Hall, 10 Dimboola Rd, Broadmeadows, on Thursday 18 July, from 6.30pm-8.30pm.

“If you are thinking of running for Council, and keen to learn more, I encourage you to come along to the upcoming information sessions,” said Sarah.

Additional sessions are also available, including sessions for women who wish to run for Council and showcase their leadership skills.
