The City of Whittlesea is proud to announce the return of its highly regarded Young Women’s Leadership Program in 2025. This free, ten-week program provides young women aged 14 to 20 with a unique opportunity to develop leadership skills, build confidence, and connect with like-minded peers in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Running from Tuesday 29 April to 1 July, the program aims to empower and inspire young women by exploring a diverse range of important topics. Participants will engage in meaningful discussions and activities covering women in leadership, gender equity, feminism, challenging gender norms, healthy relationships, women’s health, and mental well-being.

Through hands-on learning, peer collaboration, and mentorship, participants will gain practical skills that support their career aspirations and community involvement. They will be encouraged to challenge societal norms, advocate for gender equity, and take an active role in creating positive change.

A previous participant shared, “The program has taught me to be more confident and helped me gain more knowledge in different aspects of mental health and leadership, especially in the context of women”.

The Young Women’s Leadership Program was first introduced in 2019 and has since helped numerous participants step into leadership roles, including joining the City of Whittlesea Youth Council and spearheading various community initiatives. The program serves as a safe and welcoming space for young women to discuss key issues, develop their skills, and create pathways to leadership and advocacy. By fostering a network of empowered young women, the program plays a crucial role in shaping future leaders within the community.

The City of Whittlesea is committed to providing young women with opportunities for growth, self-development, and leadership. The Young Women’s Leadership Program is an important initiative that continues to make a lasting impact on participants, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to drive change in their communities.

Registrations are now open, and any female-identifying young people are encouraged to apply. To secure a spot, visit the Weekly youth programs page or email youth@whittlesea.vic.gov.au for more information.
