Upgrade boosts tree appeal
A popular shopping strip along High Street in Lalor has undergone a significant facelift to boost its safety and appeal to shoppers.
The works on the strip included improving pedestrian safety by replacing sections of the footpath and installing a raised pedestrian crossing in Tramoo Street. We’ve also improved parking outside the shops on High Street and created new parallel parking spots in Tramoo Street.
To encourage extra foot traffic, new seats, bins and trees were added, while cyclists will find it easier to access the precinct through the installation of bike racks in Tramoo Street.
Vinnie Reddy relocated his sales and repair business, to the strip almost seven years ago.
“The facelift does make it look more presentable and appealing,” he said. “It looks good, a lot better than it was before.”
The project was funded by Council and a $200,000 contribution from the Victorian Government’s Living Local Suburban Grants Program.
