New playground proves a hit

Riverside Reserve in South Morang has been transformed into a modern and welcoming space for people of all ages to get active and connect with their community outdoors.

The park and playground at Riverside Reserve in South Morang has undergone a massive $898,000 redevelopment.

City of Whittlesea Chair Administrator, Lydia Wilson, officially opened the revitalised park in October 2022.

Playground features

The new playground features a range of attractions designed to appeal to children of all ages and abilities, including:

  • junior embankment slide
  • see-saw
  • swing set with junior and toddler seats
  • standalone birds nest swing set
  • inclusive roundabout/spinning carousel which can accommodate wheelchairs and up to six users at a time
  • balance beams and tunnels
  • large play tower with inclined rope play and tunnel slide
  • monkey bars
  • 25m flying fox
  • nature play area including vertical and horizontal log steppers, balance log runners and two log teepees
  • basketball half court
  • connected walking paths
  • shelter, barbecue, and picnic settings
  • new trees and landscaping.
