About the project
The Quarry Hills Connecting Trails project will allow residents and visitors to enjoy the landscape and views of the City of Whittlesea’s premier open space.
The Quarry Hills Connecting Trails project will see a series of trails built to provide connections to the parkland precinct.
Construction on the trails network started in early-to-mid 2024 and will deliver about 3.6 kilometres of walking and cycling paths through the parkland's natural environment.
The trails range in length from about 300 metres to 1.5 kilometres and have estimated walking times of between 10 and 40 minutes.

Benefits
The trails showcase the natural beauty of the parkland, as well as highlight its significance to the traditional owners of the land, the Wurundjeri Willum Clan.
The trails will also help break down some of the barriers preventing people from being physically active by being accessible to people of all ages.
Major milestone
On 7 June 2024, City of Whittlesea Chief Executive Officer Craig Lloyd and Member for Mill Park Lily D'Ambrosio MP officially turned the first sod on the project.
The trails project allows visitors to access new lookout points and enjoy different perspectives of the views across the city and mountain ranges.
The Quarry Hills Connecting Trails project is funded by the City of Whittlesea with support from the Victorian Government, including $1 million from the Suburban Parks Program and $322,000 from the Growing Suburbs Fund.
The Quarry Hills Connecting Trails project is one of the three major projects – together with the Aboriginal Gathering Place and Granite Hills Major Community Park that will transform the parkland.
