Emerging and future developments
Our growing municipality is the ideal location for a diverse range of commercial investment. Emerging and new employment precincts will support job creation for our existing and future residents.
Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal
Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal (BIFT) is a transformational project for Victoria. The project is significant as both a long term freight terminal and a major future employment precinct.
We welcome businesses to partner with us to advocate for improved infrastructure connections to harness the potential of this precinct, benefitting business and the broader community. Strengths of this precinct include being:
- strategically located to maximise links to the inland rail, Hume Freeway and proposed E6/Outer Metropolitan Ring Road
- more than 1,000 hectares of land identified for the BIFT and associated freight and logistics.

Mernda Town Centre
Our longstanding vision for the Mernda Town Centre is for a traditional centre focused around a main street. Located at the corner of Bridge Inn and Plenty roads, it will be pedestrian-friendly, well serviced by public transport and supported by a mix of land uses.
Once developed, this 20 hectare site will offer a mix of commercial, retail, and residential use.
Wollert
The Wollert area is expected to accommodate 35,000 to 40,000 residents over the next several decades and some 8,000 job opportunities.
An employment hub is located along Epping Road and the future Outer Melbourne Ring Road/E6 corridor. The area is zoned for development, including a major town centre within proximity to utility services.
