Renew your Public Health and Wellbeing Act registration

Ensure the uninterrupted operation of your public health business by keeping your registration current. All registered public health businesses must renew their registration annually as set out in the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008.

Types of businesses that need to be registered under this Act include:

  • hairdressers, beauty parlours, tattooists, body piercers and colonic irrigation providers
  • hotels, motels, rooming houses, bed and breakfasts and hostels
  • public aquatic facilities.

How to renew your Public Health and Wellbeing Act registration

Step 1.Connect with our online health portal

Renewing your Public Health and Wellbeing Act registration is easy with 24/7 access to our online health portal.

Renewal of registration notices are emailed to businesses using our Health Manager online registration system. If you don't already have access to the Health Manager online registration system, please call 03 9217 2170.

Step 2.Wait for your notice

We email businesses in mid-November with information on how to renew their Public Health and Wellbeing Act registration. 

Step 3.Log into Health Manager portal

The business owner must log into the Health Manager online registration system to review and submit the renewal application. This will inform us if details have changed in the last 12 months. 

Step 4.Pay your renewal fee

The fee you pay depends on the type of public health business you operate. Check below to see which fees apply to you.

Any public health business that fails to pay its renewal is considered unregistered. 

Step 5.Receive your certificate

Once your renewal payment has been processed, you will be issued with a certificate for the next year's registration.

  • Public health and wellbeing premises $246.30
  • Prescribed accommodation $440.90
