Amendment C251wsea – 307 Bridge Inn Road and 390 Masons Road, Mernda

Amendment C251 proposes to rezone part of 307 Bridge Inn Road, Mernda and 390 Masons Road, Mernda to allow for residential development through the application of a General Residential Zone, and to guide the future development of the sites through the application of a Development Plan Overlay and Vegetation Protection Overlay.

The amendment affects the following properties:  

  • 307 Bridge Inn Road, Mernda  
  • 390 Masons Road, Mernda

What changes are proposed?

The amendment proposes the following changes to the Whittlesea Planning Scheme: 

  • Rezone part of 307 Bridge Inn Road, Mernda and 390 Masons Road, Mernda from Farming Zone (FZ) to a General Residential Zone (GRZ1);
  • Apply a Development Plan Overlay (DPO27) to the land rezoned GRZ1;
  • Apply a Vegetation Protection Overlay (VPO1) to the land rezoned GRZ1; 
  • Delete the Environmental Significance Overlay (ESO1 and ESO5) from part of the site.

Public exhibition

Amendment C251wsea was exhibited from 29 August 2023 to 1 October 2023.

Submissions

A number of submissions received during the exhibition period could not be resolved. Council resolved at its 20 August 2024 Council Meeting to refer the submissions to a Planning Panel.

Panel hearing details

The Minister for Planning has appointed an independent Planning Panel to hear submissions and make recommendations on the amendment.  

The panel hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday 26 November and Wednesday 27 November 2024. Council will be hosting the panel.
