Parking information

The City of Whittlesea employs a dedicated team of parking officers to proactively patrol and investigate residents' requests. They regularly conduct inspections at local streets, car parks, schools, and shopping areas to ensure safety and compliance in our community. These can include restricted parking and in-ground parking sensor areas.

Parking officer patrols help to:

  • improve the safety of pedestrians and motorists.
  • create turnover and availability in parking areas.
  • develop better parking behaviours in our community.

Parking complaints

Any parking complaints received are allocated to the nearest parking officer for investigation. The parking officer will attempt to attend the location as soon as possible. For any emergency issues faced outside of hours, please contact Victoria Police.

To lodge a report, please contact Council on 03 9217 2170 or by emailing us at info@whittlesea.vic.gov.au. Please note that parking officers are unable to issue infringements from photos provided by the public.

To assist our investigations, please provide as much detail as possible, including:

  • the vehicle registration details.
  • the colour of the vehicle.
  • the location and address.
  • the day/s of the week the vehicle is there.
  • the approximate time (e.g., in the morning or evening; all day).

Parking infringements

Parking patrols in the City of Whittlesea enforce the Victorian Road Safety Rules 2017 and Road Safety Act 1986. These rules are set by the Victorian Government.

It is the driver's responsibility to be aware of and comply with road rules. Victoria Police and other authorised agencies can also enforce this legislation.

Any infringements issued for illegal parking may be attached to the vehicle or posted to the vehicle's registered owner. A parking officer may issue further infringements to drivers who continue to park their vehicles illegally.

If you receive an infringement that has been issued by a parking officer, it cannot be revoked or cancelled by the parking officer. It may be appealed by submitting an internal review in writing as per the Infringements Act 2006. Please see the Fines and Infringements page for further information.
