While the Victorian Government is responsible for public transport services, we advocate regularly on behalf of our residents improve the public transport services in the municipality.
Buses
Current bus services
Bus services are the responsibility of the Victorian Government. They engage contractors who service the City of Whittlesea.

Future bus services
The Victorian Government is responsible for the approval and funding of new bus services through the Department of Transport and Planning. The department consults with the community when creating any new bus services.

Trains
Current train services
The train line servicing the City of Whittlesea is the Mernda Line.
Trains travel from Mernda through Lalor, Thomastown and Keon Park to the Melbourne Central Business District (CBD).

Future train services
Planned line extension
An extension of the Mernda train line is planned from Lalor to Epping North and Wollert. This extension, however, depends on Victorian Government approval, and funding being made available.

Trams
Current tram services
Route 86 trams currently run from Bundoora to the Melbourne CBD, starting at Plenty Road and ending at the Docklands precinct.

Future tram services
Subject to Victorian Government approval and funding, we're seeking an extension of the tram route to South Morang.
