Frequently asked questions

Why can’t I report all road hazards maintenance issues on roads to Council?

VicRoads manages the arterial road network across Victoria. This includes all main roads, freeways and highways.

Up until 30 June 2023, we managed the maintenance of these roads under contract from VicRoads.

However, from 1 July 2023, VicRoads took on responsibility for managing the majority of the maintenance on these roads.

The road tables on this page describe maintenance that we are still responsible for.
