Support for pets of family violence victims

If you are a victim or survivor of family violence, you can get temporary accommodation for your pet to support you through this difficult time.

Your pet will either be cared for at wat djerring Animal Facility (formerly Epping Animal Welfare Facility) or in foster care for up to 3 weeks.

Your support worker can access the service on your behalf by contacting the Animal Management department on 03 9217 2170.

Domestic Animal Welfare Policy 2019

We have developed a policy to support residents impacted by family violence in partnership with the Cities of Darebin and Merri-bek.

The policy allows for temporary accommodation for pets to support family violence victims/survivors in an emergency or crisis.
