Report a dog attack

Pet owners are legally and financially responsible for any attack involving their pet and a person or other animal. 

A dog attack includes any incident where a dog chases, attacks and/or bites a person, people or other animal. The attack doesn't have to cause physical injury.

How to report a dog attack

Step 1.Gather details

Make sure you record all relevant information about the dog attack.

This can include:

  • when and where the dog attack happened
  • description of the dog and its owner
  • photos (of the dog, dog's owner, any injuries)
  • contact details of any witnesses.

Using the information you provide, we will investigate the reported dog attack. 

We will work with you to gather evidence and decide what, if any, action will be taken against the accused dog and it's owner.
