Expression of Interest - Crescendo

Are you a classical instrumentalist looking for an exciting performance opportunity?

We’re seeking classical musicians for Crescendo, our August concert, and we invite you to be part of it. This professional-calibre performance will take place in the Yan Yean Theatre at Plenty Ranges Arts and Convention Centre, South Morang, on the evening of Wednesday 20 August 2025. 

This is a paid performance opportunity for local classical musicians of a minimum AMEB Grade 7 (or equivalent). Individuals and small chamber groups are welcome to apply. Soloists will receive a performance fee of $250 for a piece lasting between 5 and 15 minutes. Chamber ensembles will receive an additional $100 per additional musician.

Applicants will have the opportunity to attend optional workshops in the lead up to the performance in August. Participants will gain invaluable experience performing in a professional theatre, mastering concert etiquette, and refining their stage presence. They will be invited to join a supportive network of artists, fostering growth and artistic development.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  • Be a classical musician of a standard of minimum AMEB Grade 7 (or equivalent)
  • Reside in or have strong local ties to the City of Whittlesea
  • Perform one piece of music between 5 – 15 minutes on a classical instrument
  • Perform as a solo or in a small chamber music group (up to 5 persons)
  • No prior performance experience is necessary; all musicians with the capacity to perform are encouraged to apply.

How to apply

Interested musicians should:

  • Decide on a piece for your performance
  • Confirm your accompanist is available (if required)
  • Complete the online EOI below
  • Expressions of interest will be open until the end of May. Applicants will be notified by mid-June.

Selection criteria

Selection will be based on the overall balance and cohesion of the concert program, considering the instruments of the applicants, the standard of performance, and the suitability of their chosen piece.

Workshops

Participants will be invited to attend free workshops with other musicians and artists. The aims of these workshops are to further artistic development, to foster growth and to join a supportive network of artists. Workshop programs are optional and free of charge. 

Accompanists

Solo performers are paid as a single performer, accompanists are not paid extra. We can assist with connecting you to an accompanist if you do not have any direct connections.
