Items in our civic history collection

To preserve our history for future generations, we collect information, goods or artefacts if they have been:

  • created by council officers or councillors in the course of their work
  • received by council officers or councillors in the course of their work
  • connected to the operation of the Council.

Items created and received by council officers may include:

  • correspondence
  • publications
  • diaries
  • speeches
  • websites.

Our extensive collection includes fascinating memorabilia, historical and contemporary commissioned photos, historical documents, cultural gifts, plaques, medals, Councillor portraits and honour boards relating to the City of Whittlesea.

The collection can be viewed online or in-person at the Civic Centre by appointment.

Hours: 8:30 am - 5:00 pm Monday to Friday except public holidays.
