Conservation Walk and Talk: What Euc, Scat or Track is That

Rob and Emma from Its Naturally You will take you on a walk to explore the eucalypts in the area as well as looking for scats and tracks to see who lives in our parks.

The walk starts with a briefing and some basic identification skills. After this, you’ll set off, starting on a sealed track before heading off into the native bushlands where the land is rolling with dirt paths.

You’ll need to wear sturdy shoes and bring water for this walk. The walk will end back at the start under the shelter with a small morning tea and a chance to ask questions and meet others in the community.

This walk marks the 11^th National Eucalypt Day, held each year on 23 March. It aims to raise awareness of eucalypts and celebrate the important place they hold in the hearts and lives of Australians.

In the City of Whittlesea, 18 species of eucalypts are indigenous. The river red gum is one of the most important visual features of our local landscape and they are afforded special protection, being both culturally and environmentally significant.

This walk explores our native bushland in Riverside Reserve looking at the eucalypts, learning about the trees and the bushland around them.
