Our community in the growth suburb of Wollert, urgently needs a train line. Many residents currently face a two-hour one-way commute to work in Melbourne’s CBD, missing out on important social and family time.
Council is requesting the State Government to acquire the remaining land needed for the designated Wollert Rail Corridor and prioritise the Wollert Public Transport Feasibility Study.
Our residents have long called for the 86 Tram route to be extended to the Plenty Valley Town Centre and beyond. The proposed extension of the 86 Tram route would improve the everyday lives of 13,500 local residents and allow users to transfer at South Morang to access university campuses, employment hubs and services via a well-connected, high capacity public transport network. We are requesting the State Government to publish the feasibility study on the extension of Tram Route 86, which is currently under consideration.
A premium bus service from Epping to Wollert (via Edgars Road) to coincide with the opening of Edgars Road between Cooper Street and Craigieburn will support our community in accessing education, employment, and health services until the Wollert Rail is built.
Council is asking the State Government to increase bus service frequencies across our municipality during peak commuting periods, to accommodate those who are required to travel outside of the municipality for work and education.
