Recently we asked residents and motorists to have their say on a proposal to close Masons Road to through traffic. At its 1 October 2019 meeting, Council considered an advisory committee recommendation on this proposal and decided to start a six-month trial of Masons Road as a one-way road, eastbound between Epping Road and Wilkes Court. The trial will start on 3 February 2020.
Emergency services and authorised road maintenance vehicles will be exempt from the one-way restriction.
Council considered all feedback received from residents and motorists prior to deciding on the six-month trial, which was both in favour of and opposed to the proposed closure. The trial will be reviewed next year to determine whether it has been effective in addressing safety concerns or if the road closure proposal should be reconsidered.
We will be asking for feedback from residents and motorists at the end of the trial. Your feedback will inform Council’s decision about the future of the road.
