It’s thyme to get in the garden with entries now open for the 2019 City of Whittlesea garden competition.
Mayor Lawrie Cox encouraged residents to start digging with more than $2000 worth of prizes up for grabs for the ‘best front garden’ and ‘best edible garden’.
“Front gardens will be judged on innovative colour schemes and interesting plant combinations,” Cr Cox said.
“Edible gardens will be judged on the amount and quality of the fruit and vegetables, and uncommon and self-cultivated varieties.
“Environmentally-friendly gardening practices, such as native plants, recycled materials and rain water will be viewed favourably.”
Entries close 4pm on Sunday 10 February.
