Main roads street tree planting program

Our main roads street tree planting program aims to transform streetscapes throughout the City of Whittlesea into vibrant boulevards of diverse, colourful trees that connect people and nature.

In line with our Greening Whittlesea Strategy, we are committed to increasing the number of trees and green cover across the City of Whittlesea.

Trees provide our community a range of benefits, including:

  • providing much needed shade in urban areas
  • contributing to neighbourhood character and the look and feel of the street
  • reducing air pollution in an efficient and cost-effective way
  • providing habitat for native wildlife
  • enhancing people’s health and wellbeing.

The trees that have been planted along our main roads have been specifically chosen to suit the location and have included a range of deciduous and evergreen trees.

Lakes Boulevard planting program

As part of our main roads street tree planting program, we planted new trees along Lakes Boulevard, from Plenty Road to Findon Road, in South Morang in 2022.

The trees that were planted along the Lakes Boulevard were specifically chosen to suit this location and included a range of deciduous and evergreen trees.
