About the plan

The Thomastown Industrial Area Plan is a strategic document promoting a long-term vision for Thomastown Industrial Area. 

It promotes Thomastown Industrial Area as a sought-after business hub, able to create employment growth through innovation and collaboration. The plan focuses on actions and projects that support Council's Economic Development Strategy.

We adopted the Thomastown Industrial Area Plan at a Council meeting on 3 April 2018.

What the plan includes

The Plan is not a statutory document and will not be incorporated into the Planning Scheme.

Instead, it is a intended to act a a guide to development in the area. The plan identifies actions and projects to support  improvements in the Thomastown area, including: 

  • economic development
  • land use and development
  • infrastructure provision
  • environmental sustainability.

The strategy document includes an action plan. The action plan provides a framework describing how the vision and aims will be achieved and how projects will be delivered.

Our role in delivering the plan

As the Thomastown Industrial Area Plan enters the implementation phase, relevant Council departments will be responsible for the delivery of actions. The actions have been categorised by the objectives of the Thomastown Industrial Area Plan, along with provisional timelines and budgets.
